Project of the Month
I will be picking a project each month to fill days with warmth, friendship and inspiration!! We meet on Sundays to encourage, laugh, help and enjoy each other! This is something that anyone one can participate in. There are no fees just an excuse to knit with your friends! I am hoping that you will be able to find at least one project that is of interest and join me.
Knit along ;-) we will meet Sundays at 12:00 p.m. (if you want) or just proceed on your own!!

Cardigan Neutral - Pattern from Aware Knits by Vickie Howell and Arienne Armstrong.
This is a cute little no button cardigan knitted with a chunky yarn with a little asymmetrical lace pattern to set it apart. 12sts to 4" . small 770 yrds - extra large 1,320 yrds on size 11 needle or size to obtain gauge.
I am going to knit with Araucania - Azapa or Rowan Cocoon ;-) Always so hard to decide!
We started the first project Sunday 1/3/10!! I finally decided on using Araucania, Azapa and wonderful alpaca, merino, silk and donegal blend. I chose the Sea Green and love knitting with Azapa, it is yummy soft and feels great in my fingers ;-) Several people are doing the project in Rowan Cocoon which is another super soft to die for yarn! Pictures will be coming soon.
1/17/10 All is going well. I have discovered a couple of possible discrepencies between the photo in the book and the pattern. Doing the lace pattern (the way I read the pattern ;-) it continues up to the underarm shaping - as it keeps saying 'in pattern' ;-? In the photo there is only a couple of repeats - I guess you would just stop at 8". But the main difference is the cuff, the pattern says to make the cuff 3" and in the photo it looks 6" to 8" !! Which I think is really cute! So I adjusted my arm. I cast on 32 stitches (for the small size), decreased down to the 26 sts (about 1") then did one foliage lace pattern repeat and continued in st st until it measured 8". Then I shortened the arm to 17". I should have it seamed up this week and will post the results! *I will also check the publisher to see if the is any errata for this pattern*
1/25/10 I have seamed up my sweater! I thought the armholes were small as I knit them and they are a bit snug. If you are worried about that I would add 1" to the armhole length and 6 stitches to the arm itself - this should add a little give;-) I really love the sweater and the Araucania Azapa yarn!! The sweater is blocking now and then I will get a picture!! Yeah!!

Noro Pillow Covers - Pattern from Noro Mini Knits Designs by Jenny Watson
Beautiful pillow covers knit with Noro Iro or guage 12 sts to 4" Small - 200 grams or 2 skeins, large 300grams or 2 1/2 skeins.
2/6 I started my pillow cover. I am using Noro Iro color # ---. Looks like there is a front and two backs and seems the zipper is in the middle of the back. I am considering putting the zipper along the end seam and just making two pieces. I will stew on this a bit ;-) Linda is making hers out of CEY Sprout - very cute!
3/7 Linda brought in her finished project. She knitted her back piece longer to fold over with buttons. Looks very cute (will get a picture soon).
Hour Glass Sweater - Pattern from Last Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson
A fun little sweater. So if all you new knitters have been nervous about taking the jump to knitting your first sweater this is a great time!! The pattern is written for worsted yarn 19 sts to 4". Extra small 1,100 yrds Extra Large 1,600 on size 7 needle or size to obtain gauge.
I am going to knit with Araucania - Rehue ;-) unless of course I change my mind ;-0
3/7/10 I finally decided on Noro Cash Aroha Rust Orange! We all got started - there are three others using Cash Aroha and one using the Araucania Rehue orange! Linda is modifying hers with a contrasting border and high waist band. The sweater looks pretty straight forward, it is knit in the round from the bottom up and has turned hems. We are off to a good start.
3/21 Everyone is cruising along. Jennifer who just learned to knit joined in to make her first sweater! She is knitting in Rowan Summer Tweed - a beautiful magenta - a great summer color! Nice pattern - no problems, easy to follow. The hardest part is in the beginning making sure you are not twist with 158 stitches! They are a bit unruly;-)
3/28 We are all having fun knitting this sweater! I have the sleeves joined and hope to have it finished up and blocked for Easter! Finished blocking - Cash Aroha got even softer and smoother after the blocking! it fits great and feels really nice. I like the wide neckline;-)

Spring is on its way! CEY Pattern out of the New Harbour pattern book- Open Cardi the pattern is writter for worsted yarn 19sts to 4" in stockinette stitch. Small 945 yrds Ex large 1,215 yrds on US7 or size to obtain gauge.
I am thinking of knitting with Rowan Summer Tweed or CEY Princess or, or,or.............
4/1- I did a swatch with the Summer Tweed and did not like it at 19 sts 4" ! It looses some of its softness, so I am thinking I will use the JoSharp DK Tweed and use the Summer Tweed Tonic for another pattern ;-) We will be have our first meeting on the 11th but seems that I don't have any interest in the New Harbor pattern except Stephanie who is on the road and got started a couple of weeks ago (see notes and photo below) People around the shop are finishing up the hourglass sweater and such so I am going to use April as finish up month. .
4/10 - Stephanie who is traveling ;-) started the project a couple of weeks ago and here are her comments: "The sun is shining and there are no tornados in the weather forecast. Since it is Easter I don’t know if it is knitting as usual, but I thought I would send pictures of my April project. The back is finished and measures to be the right size- which is amazing since I had to change the pattern instructions a lot. The Rowan, Cashsoft Aran yarn is supposed to be a 19 sts/4” on #7 but I didn’t like the look or feel of it, knit up that tight so I started over. More swatches and calculating... I am knitting it on #7 for the ribbing and #9 for the rest. The front with the lace panel is coming along and I will shape the armhole the same as the back. The next big challenge will be shaping the sleeves to fit. "
4/25 Well things are moving along at the shop - the Sunday knitters are finishing things up and Stephanie should be sending more updates on her project from the road. Below are a couple of things I finished off. Next weekend we start the May project to welcome in spring!

Celebrate Spring!!!
Due to popular demand.............We are going to knit a little garter stitch vest out of the Noro Vol 27 - #488. It is knit in Furisode, a nice blend of 45% Silk, 40% Cotton & 15% wool. A couple of people will be knitting it in CEY Sprout 100% organic cotton. This should knit up quick at 12 sts - 4 inches. A fun spring project.
5/2 We are off to a fun start! Picking out which Noro Furisod color is a fun time. I am knitting in color #15 which has great bright pinks, coral, blue and brown! Linda is knitting with color #9 which has black, turqouise, pink and green/brown. Mary is going to be knitting in # 16 which has lavender, purple, yellows and light blues. Carol in knitting in CEY Sprout 100% organic cotton - light pink. Below is mine in Furisode # 15.
5/9 Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers!! What a perfect day - knitting in the shop with other wonderful mothers and freinds!! We had a great time. The vests are knitting up fast and the Noro Furisode colors are great. I didn't have the camera in the shop but will be sure to take photos next weekend of the different colors being used. Below is the color I am using #15
What a quick knit!! Super fast and funky!

Rowan Magazine # 33 Design 7 - Dune - it is a cardigan with lace detail. It is knit using Rowan Summer Tweed, one of my favorite Rowan yarns;-) A nice addition to your summer wardrobe.
6/6 We all got started! The first couple of lace rows are always awkward but we are on our way. I am doing mine in Rowan Summer Tweed Tonic a bright turquoise and I love the color. Linda and Linda ;-) are doing it in Brilliant a bright magenta, Laura is knitting in Rush a beautiful soft green and Della is doing it in Harbour a soft turquoise.
6/24 Everyone is progressing nicely! There just are not enough hours in the day for everything I want to knit;-)
7/4 Quiet knit group day, Laura and I worked away taking a break to watch the parade go by!! Here is a picture of mine - I am working on the arms now.
Finishing up should have it seamed together and blocked soon! Will have photos of the completed items as everyone gets done!

7/4 We decided to start the lace scarf next Sunday the 11th due to the holiday events everyone has going on ;-)
7/11 Linda Wagner and I got started - we are both doing it in Louisa Harding Willow Tweed. Nice yarn! I had work a couple of pattern repeats and it went smooth!
7/18 All is well! Not many takers this month! It is a really nice looking pattern and great yarn!!
Bonnie's scarf is beautiful in purple!! I didn't get a photo as I didn't have the camera;-( Next time. I am going to go longer than the pattern and just use up all the yarn! Love the Willow Tweed fibre.

8/1 Several people interested in the felting! Now the fun part - picking yarn and colors! Pretty straight forward pattern. I have the magnetic snaps here at the shop and am looking for the grometts for the handle cord!
Purses are all coming along. I am seaming mine up and hope to felt this week! I keep holding up the pieces of beautiful Noro colors and am tempted to just attached at the shoulders and have a cute boat neck tunic - hehe!!
