About Us

Woolly Notions was opened in April of 2009 by Victoria Williams. Victoria moved to the area in 2001 with her husband Matt, after living in Serene Lakes (near Truckee) for over 30 years. During the time of the move, Victoria started knitting, which soon turned into many more knitting adventures.  In 2008, Victoria noticed a cute little red house building for rent in Graeagle, and had a "Woolly Notion" - hence the yarn shop was born. 

Matt and Victoria also own Williams Construction, and have been building custom homes in the Sierra for 25 years. Check out Trails Within the latest Williams family business started by Emily Williams June 2012.  Trails Within is a yoga and wellness center offering yoga, healing seminars, wellness workshops, backpacking retreats and more
