It is so fun to knit with summer yarns.  I just finished up the Bala Pattern out of the Rowan Magazine 61 using Summerlite DK.  This was a fun quick summer knit.  The shaping is beautiful.  Rowan Magazine 61 has so many great project it was hard to pick which one to do first :-) Thank you Donna for modeling the completed project!!

Lazy Sunday Vest Project

I am knitting the Lazy Sunday Vest by Summer Simpson. This is a fun bottom up hip length vest.   I am using Katia Cotton Merino, it takes approximately 8 skeins and is knit using US 10 needles or size to get the 4 stitches to the inch. There are six people doing this project using this yarn. We have two people using Green, two using Teal and two using Ashland.

Getaway Poncho

We are starting off the New Year with the Getaway Poncho out of the Interweave Weekend Wraps book. It is knit from the top down in a bulky yarn with a big garter-stitch cowl and stockinette-stitch body, it's easy enough to be a relaxing and quick knit. The gauge is 12 stitches per 4 inches on a US 10 1/2 or size to obtain gauge. You will need 824 yards. I am going to try it in Mirasol Ushya Firebrick, which has 114 yds per skein.  At gauge I am on a US 13.  Prepare for this project:

We are making a fun pattern called Seabrook from Berroco. I am using On Line Morel  and it is a fast knit on US11 needles.  Colors are great and the vest has a nice texture.  Kathy knit hers using Rowan Savannah for a more casual look.

We are knitting the Ruffled Fingerless Mitts using the lovely Zealana Air, a blended Cashmere and Brushtail Possum Down. The pattern in written for double points but I am using the magic loop method. This is a fun pattern, one down and just starting the second mitt.
